Walkington Methodist Chapel / Access

Walkington, East Yorkshire

2009 - 2011

Having access for all is one of the fundamental provisions of a public building and this project called upon the practice to facilitate that. A substantial difference in levels between the public footway and the chapel floor necessitated an ingenious solution, which was developed into an attractive cascade of planting beds interspersed with steps and ramps. Internal alterations to accommodate a disabled WC were also carried out, thus allowing everyone to use this building.
