Sited in the Wolds Countryside, this farmhouse required substantial restoration and reconfiguration to meet the needs of a growing modern rural family. Reclaimed bricks were used throughout the new elements of the project lowering the carbon footprint of the build. Passive heating and ventilation strategies were critical to the design providing a high-quality environment and low running costs.

Sustainability Strategy
The retention & conversion of this agrarian and cluster exemplifies a sustainable approach to making a contemporary farmhouse complex without losing the traditional character of its rural setting. The re-use of brickwork on site for rebuilding and remediation works negated the associated embodied carbon of using new materials and the specifying of timber windows, doors, internal flooring, roof structure and cabinetry sequestered further carbon into the home, offsetting its environmental footprint.
