Following the purchase of a vacant site in a new cul-de-sac development our client was struck by the banality of homes built around him. Samuel Kendall developed a characterful house reminiscent of the Caledonian rural style which the client was fond of following their Scottish holidays. Sited in the affluent area of Kirk Ella in west hull this house was bespoke designed to fit its irregularly shaped plot caused by its location at the turning head of the road. 

The house is buffered from the road through a large double garage placed to the front of the plot. The central entrance was strongly articulated by a recessed porch dressed in a semi drycast sandstone arch. This recess is echoed at first floor level as a feature external balcony from the central circulation. 

The house was organised around a central entrance hall housing a bespoke oak staircase connecting the different areas of the house. The project also featured a hidden secret room in the roofspace accessed via a pulldown staircase.
